The Dallas Mavericks have won the NBA Western Conference First Round, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 4-2. The Mavericks were led by Dirk Nowitzki, who averaged 24.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in the series.
The Mavericks won the first two games of the series at home, but the Trail Blazers evened the series with two wins in Portland. The Mavericks then won Game 5 at home and closed out the series with a Game 6 victory in Portland.
Nowitzki was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for his performance in the series. He was joined on the All-Western Conference First Team by teammate Jason Kidd.
The Mavericks will now face the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Lakers are the defending NBA champions and are the top seed in the West.
